The Reiksguard, the creme of the imperial army, has been sent by Karl Franz to support the northern crusade.
The Reiksguard foot knights. Lead by Helmut Hopfberg, a high ranking member of the Hopfberg family. The regiment of Reiksguard foot is the rock in the center of the crusade that the northern barbarians will break upon. Clad in high quality steel plate armour and wielding their weapons with the skill of the noble warrior trained from birth in the art of war, they take a heavy toll on any enemy. The unit is comprised of 90s reiksguard miniatures and some earlier marauder minis in the same style. Based to be able to be used as either one large horde or two regiments. I originally planned to paint their armour black, but ended up with a NMM style armour that I am very happy with. Still gives off a feeling of darkened armour, but it certainly pops a lot more on the table. Leading the Reikland contigent in the emperors absence is no other than the newest Grand Master of the Reiksguard, Sieghard Drakenberg. (alternate timeline headcanon)Riding to war on Karl Franz’s own griffon, Deathclaw, Sieghard commands the battlefield with both tactical brilliance and martial prowessThe mini is an old pegasus champion and the 90s Deathclaw. The original pose of the griffon is terrible, so I had to convert the big lump of metal into something much more dynamic. The process to get to this point was painful, but I finally ended with a mini I am very happy with.
Thank you. It is a black basecoat, then blues, starting from a dark blue-purple color and gradually going to almost white. Each layer covering a smaller area than the last, and fairly wet brush. I used quite a lot of stippling on the top layers. After that, they whole thing is washed in a diluted black glaze from vallejo.

Very satisfying horde of oldhammer metal, and the blue-for-black was a good choice. Props on the Deathclaw repose (and paint) as well!
